We toast crunchy sticks of “Northern” multigrain bread with flax from “Kyivkhlib” — until the crust sings.
We finely chop apple, capers, red onion, dill, parsley, and of course herring — the main character of this gastronomic play.
We add butter and mix until the flavor becomes smooth yet expressive.
Spread on warm crusty bread and enjoy.
